Ormiston Denes Academy

Burton Green was approached in 2013 by Ormiston Denes Academy to undertake the refurbishment of their 171m² entrance hall, creating a multi-functional space delivering a multitude of uses, including 1 on 1 tuition, small group work, presentations, and a break-out space during lunch hours.

The 171m² open space featured double height ceilings and some lovely original features, but was under-used as a space, operating as a thoroughfare for staff and students between classes as well as an impromptu dining area during refreshment hours.

Burton Green’s plans outlined a full refurbishment; including redecoration, new floor finishes and new furniture, completely transforming the space into a vibrant hub for the academy. The use of creative bespoke furniture, fabrics and finishes in strong colours, seamlessly blended with the original features.

With the academy providing a working space for staff and students alike it was necessary for all works to be completed outside of term time, but by co-ordinating with the staff and contractors, we were able to adjust lead times for products and services, ensuring the project was completed within the allocated timeframe and within budget.

“I have had the pleasure of working with Emma over a period of 4 years to date. I have always found Emma to be not only a wonderfully innovative and creative thinker but also practical, cost-oriented, highly-organised and conscientious. On all occasions, Emma has delivered on her commitments, establishing uplifting, inspiring yet practical environments drawing from her extensive knowledge of current design trends, reliable suppliers and a detailed understanding of our requirements. I’m happy to give an unreserved recommendation for Burton Green Design and would welcome visits to my Academy if you would like to review the quality of her work for yourself.”
